Open-Pollinated | Heirloom
Manitoba Tomato is a cold-hardy, early-producing Canadian heirloom developed in Manitoba for short growing seasons and northern climates. Bred at Morden Experimental Farm in the 1950s, this determinate, bushy variety is ideal for gardeners with limited space, containers, or raised beds. Plants produce a concentrated crop of bright red, medium-sized fruits with smooth skin and a rich, tangy flavor—perfect for fresh eating, slicing, salsas, canning, and preserving.

The growth habit of Manitoba Tomato is compact and determinate, meaning plants typically reach about 2 feet tall and do not require staking, though a cage or light support is helpful. They set fruit all at once, making them especially practical for gardeners who want to harvest and preserve a large batch at a time. With resistance to Fusarium Wilt and Verticillium Wilt, Manitoba Tomato is reliably productive even in cooler, damp conditions.
